We are very glad to announce SONO SION’s THE LAND OF HOPE got NETPAC Best Asian Film award at tiff 2012.
Toronto International Film Festival
New this year is the NETPAC Award for the Best First or Second Feature World or International Asian Film Premiere, as selected by a jury from the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema. Jury members include Laurice Guillen (Philippines), Shelly Kraicer (Toronto/Beijing) and Azize Tan (Istanbul).The award goes to Sion Sono, The Land of Hope. The jury remarked: or its subtle, complex and artful account of the social and political aspects of a national trauma that ends in hope and love, the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival NETPAC Award for best feature film is given to The Land of Hope by Sion Sono.
Sion Sono’s comment on this award : “I am so happy that my film THE LAND OF HOPE got the award as Best Asian Film in the largest film festival in North America, which I hope, it makes the film spread wider to the world. When I thought about “the future” of children born today, I could not stop myself start writing the script. I hope this tragedy will never happen in anywhere around the world any more.” – Sion Sono.
